黑色麂皮,加上黑色鱷魚皮,再夾雜點黑色蜥蜴皮,最後蓋上黑色的橡膠貝殼楦頭,完成了這雙低調到底的奢華版Superstar MMVII... 雖然充滿人造質感的橡膠材質與皮革再搭配上的強烈牴觸問題始終是Superstar鞋款走向高級路線上的絆腳石,但個人感覺這次利用全黑的處理方式確實有效的減低了這個問題...

Cold-blooded Superstars seem to be becoming a seasonal adidas staple, and this time we can't be bothered to thumb through our dusty tomes on tetrapods and amniotes to gauge which scaly menaces have been homaged this time. What we do know is that despite their unorthodox placement of the treated leather; keeping it predominantly to the rear, a shelltoe in a single dark shade is generally a sure-shot.
As a youthful Q-Tip once reminded us, black is black - ?it's no great stretch of the imagination, but on the Superstar 1 silhouette, it generally works. The mix of nubuck and two other 'skins' taken from a lizard/croc/Q The Winged Serpent...or whatever they are is agreeable, particularly on the lace-stay panels. We can't knock the premium build quality, and the tan lining gives 'em that near-formal look.
While it's all a little fussy and strangely jumbled in its choice of application zones for a shoe best left simple, and that 'MMVII' shield's 'old boys network styling is no match for the traditional tongue detailing, it's pretty wearable, so we won't get into a full-on black snake moan. But please - the whole lizard shtick needs to be sent back 30 storeys back down into the depths, Godzilla-style for an indefinite period before we have to make like Springfield and introduce a 'Whacking Day'. Maybe David Icke was right, and reptiles are taking over the world. Starting with the footwear industry...
