2007-12-06 Undefeated x adidas '1979' Top Ten

adidas與Undefeated又將有新的合作提案,這次的主角是TopTen,為何選用此型號並不得而知,但可以知道兩造都很用心在製作這次的合作款,這款名為"1979" (TopTen的發行年份) 的紀念版TopTen,用上白色的籃球皮面作為鞋面,再襯上金色的包邊與鞋帶扣環,相當典雅別緻,而包裝更是不得了,特製的黑色皮質鞋盒,翻開裡面竟然還有一塊籃球場所使用的木質地板材,另外還包括一本由名攝影師Estevan Oriol所操刀的籃球主題攝影集,預計限量製作650組,售價450美元,將在08年2月份於Undefeated各店及部份選定商店販售...

A pioneering design - we can thank Doug Collins, Kevin Grevey, Marques Johnson, Adrian Dantley, Bob Lanier, Bobby Jones, Billy Knight, Sidney Wicks, Mitch Kupchak and the brilliantly named Kermit Washington for making up the titular Top Ten players who apparently road tested this design, resulting in its early '80s court dominance.
At least that's the story, but like Chopper Reid, sneaker companies have never been ones to "let the truth get in the way of a good yarn". We've seen a glorious ALIFE '03 low-top variation, but this is a design that's got equal merits in both high and low cuts. Time for Undefeated to step out the changing room.
Celebrating the year of the Top Ten's genesis; 1979, this is a ludicrously big package, from the black velvet lining to the extras. With a tight Superstar interpretation under the West Coast dons' black, ballistic nylon belts, the cleanliness that this design benefits from (rather than the jumbled signals of myriad applications) is retained to celebrate the Top Ten's undisputed athletic pedigree.
Gold-plated lace jewels and eyelets, plus a spin on that current adidas preoccupation - a reptilian effect leather gives them a basketball surface effect makes for footwear decadence that manages to just about err on the right side of tasteful, finished with a transparent sole. Naturally the shoe is as comfortable straight out the box as ever, if it's destined to ever reach the purchaser's feet.
In a vast box that'll automatically dominate the room, a spot of wooden court flooring lines the top, and the third collaborator's output nestles in its own section. As longtime documenter of gulliness and Soul Assassins member, Estevan Oriol's videos and photographs always reveal hidden depths in hardcore surroundings and the accompanying hardback tome of his ball park imagery is no exception.
650 pairs of the '1979' pack are being produced, and via a hefty 450 dollar price tag this release will only be accessible to a a different breed of baller, but for those interested, it'll be appearing in this fair capital via Consortium stores like adidas' No. 6 store and Footpatrol in February
